61st Anniversary of the Voting Rights Act Commemoration

Join the NAACP Virginia State Conference for a powerful evening of remembrance, advocacy, and action.

The evening features a Freedom Summer VA presentation, a Protect the Vote Rally focused on the Automatic Restoration of Rights Constitutional Amendment, a reception, and a screening of Eyes on the Prize – Episode 5: Freedom Summer. Voter registration and volunteer opportunities will be available on site. Refreshments will be served.

Featured speakers include Congressman Bobby Scott, Senator Mamie Locke, President Rev. Cozy Bailey, Bishop Dwight Riddick, and community leaders committed to protecting the vote.

Sixty-one years after the Voting Rights Act, the fight for every citizen’s right to vote demands our presence and our voices. Come stand with us.
