NAACP Virginia State Conference Condemns the SCOTUS Ruling on Affirmative Action

Following the ruling of the Supreme Court to reverse decades of precedent on affirmative action, Robert N. Barnette, Jr, President of the NAACP Virginia State Conference (Virginia NAACP),  issued the following statement:

It is clear that the decision by the Supreme Court will have a negative impact on Virginians. It undermines the progress we have been working towards collectively. But let’s be clear; the Virginia NAACP will not stop fighting for our children to have access to high-quality education.”

The Virginia NAACP calls on all Virginia colleges, universities, and corporations to commit to diversity, no matter what, and sign the Diversity No Matter What pledge.

ABOUT THE VIRGINIA NAACP
Chartered in 1935, the NAACP Virginia State Conference (Virginia NAACP) is the oldest and largest nonpartisan civil rights organization in the Commonwealth. The Virginia NAACP advocates, agitates, and litigates for civil rights due to Black Virginians. Representing over 100 NAACP adult branches, youth councils, and college chapters, together, we fight to build the social and political power required to abolish racial discrimination in localities throughout Virginia.
