We need you to contact your Senator and urge them to support House Bill 5002, Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity; Small Business Procurement Enhancement Program, and Women-owned and Minority-owned Business Procurement Enhancement Program established, in their upcoming Senate session.
HB5002 would require state agencies to increase their support of small woman-owned and minority-owned businesses when procuring businesses for state prime contracts and subtracts. Additionally, this bill would establish the Women-owned and Minority-owned Business Procurement Enhancement Program, which would increase state agencies and covered institution’s utilization of women-owned and minority-owned businesses in all discretionary spending.
Women-owned and minority-owned businesses have often been overlooked in the awarding of valuable state agency contracts and patronage, which only further creates an economic divide that negatively impacts these business owners. This is why the Virginia State Conference NAACP strongly supports this legislation.
