Virginia NAACP Congratulates Governor-elect, Lieutenant Governor-elect and Attorney General-elect

RICHMOND – The Virginia NAACP congratulates Governor-elect Glen Youngkin, Lieutenant Governor-elect Winsome Sears, and Attorney General-elect Jason Miyares on their historic victories. The Virginia NAACP will continue its advocacy of:

  • Strengthening voter rights for Virginians
  • Accountability in Policing
  • Economic protections in our community amid the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Advancement in equity, diversity, and inclusion in all areas of government

“Over the past four years, we have worked with the legislature and administration on policies that have positively affected the lives of Black Virginians. We look forward to working with the new administration in continuing our work” says Virginia NAACP President Robert N. Barnette Jr. 

The Virginia NAACP also applauds the Virginia Department of Elections for its work in a free and fair election with integrity. Further, the Virginia NAACP thanks its over 16,000 volunteers across the commonwealth and country for their work during this election cycle. The Virginia NAACP is nonpartisan and works towards ensuring a society in which all individuals have equal rights and there is no racial hatred or racial discrimination.
